We have learnt that the body is given as a tool of expression for the man. The body is the medium by which man is identified. It is a necessary housing for this earthen realm in order for a soul to have expression.

However have you ever considered the operation of Satan in the Garden of Eden?

When Satan deceived Eve, she persuaded her husband to eat the fruit and he ate it. However, by this act of disobedience he sold his whole lineage over to Satan. The act of sin, allowed Satan to have legal entry into Adam and because Satan is a spirit he was stronger than the soul of Adam and was able to control him henceforth. Satan had gotten into the seed of Adam; however, God had established a law in the garden, that every seed would produce after its own kind. Therefore, just as a fruit tree’s seed produces the same species of fruit tree, likewise the fruit of Adam’s seed would be just as Adam was.

Satan entered and produced a law of sin and death, and he allowed it to work in the body of Adam. It brought forth evil concupiscence, a strong urge/craving for sin. This law resulted in a nature change for Adam. He was no longer innocent, but he had now been defiled. His nature was now sinful and hence all his children would have the same nature that he had.

Galatians 3:22 - But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

Satan, an invisible spirit had been given expression through the bodies of men. The law of sin and death brought forth the emotions, character, and works of the devil, and these were expressed through the body. The devil had captured the part of man that made him exist in the natural world – the body. Therefore everything that would be expressed through the body, would be of him.

The devil had been thrown out of heaven, during Adam’s existence, the devil had no fellowship with God, he was separated from God. Death is separation from God. Thus, because of his evil intent and jealousy, by him getting inside of man (the being God greatly loved) he caused all mankind to die as well. Mankind was dead because of the presence of the devil in the body. The nature of man now opposed God: His nature was righteousness but man’s nature was sin.

John 8:44 - Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

This body was now a body of sins. That which was displeasing to God had been given a shape, and it was the body. As expressed in Psalm 51:5: Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. The devil had thought that man was irredeemable, just as he was, but the fall of man was simply the beginning.

1 John 3:8 - He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

These works were in the body.

The Lord said to me, Do you think that I didn’t know that Satan would have caused mankind to fall? I created Satan, and the extent of his wisdom, I ordered it. All good gifts come from Me. I created Lucifer perfect, however he decided to defile himself. His wisdom however was given by me, and I ordered the sum of his wisdom.

Ezekiel 28:11-13

 11 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.

The scriptures teach us that Adam and Eve were the only humans to walk in Eden, therefore God’s speech had transcended the king of Tyrus – he was talking to Lucifer. God is the one that created Satan wise, however he was not as wise as His creator.

Ephesians 3:9-10

9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:

10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,

The scripture says that from that he created all things by Jesus Christ, who is the Word of God. Jesus was hid in God from the beginning of the world and the sons of God were in Jesus. When God went down to create Adam, the sons of God were already dwelling in Him through Jesus Christ, but it is through Adam that they would be manifested. The intent of God from the beginning was to dwell inside the bodies of man. Satan’s plan to get into the bodies of men simply pointed to God’s intent; that He too, would inhabit the fleshy vessels of mankind. The devil thought that by killing Jesus, he would have wiped out the lineage of Christ, but he didn’t know that His death was necessary for His lineage to be born. It is now by Jesus Christ that God’s intent to live in flesh is attained.

By the circumcision of the flesh and the presence of Jesus in the flesh, the body is no longer the shape of iniquity but it is the shape of righteousness. All Adam’s seed was shapen in iniquity, however Jesus was the form (shape) of God. Just as the devil had been given expression, by working his lusts in us, likewise God is given expression in His Sons. Therefore when a soul puts on the new man, they have put on the form of God; the image of God.

God however does not force His children into anything as Satan does to his children, but God has subjected Himself to the will of the Son. It is when the will of the Son is the will of the Father, that God is put on display through the Son. God makes an impression on the heart of the son, and the purpose of this impression is to produce love in the son. It is by love now that the son serves the Father, as opposed to Satan that forced mankind to follow him.

John 14:15  - If ye love me, keep my commandments.
