Salvation Series I - Part 7 - How Are We Saved?

God has taken us this far in the mystery. We are back on track as it relates to the revelation of Christ. Now we can bring this series back to us that we may know the significance of all that was before.
In part 2 we dealt with the fall of man. We know that the devil had entered the seed of man, and all men were born in sin and shapen in iniquity. All that came forth from Adam were destined for hell. But in the fullness of time Christ died for our sins.
Today we know of Jesus because He was preached to us. There was someone that ministered the gospel unto us, we heard and we believed. Someone told us that if we didn't receive the Holy Ghost we would die and go to hell. Someone told us that despite all our sins we were loved by God and he died for us. We felt the power and love of the Gospel and we desired God to save our souls.
We know that Jesus died and was risen from the dead. 40 days after His resurrection He ascended to the Father in the presence of His disciples. Listen to Jesus' prayer before His arrest.
Jn 17:1-5
1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
4 I have glorified thee on the earth:I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
What was the glory which Jesus had before the world was?
Jn 1:1&14
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Jesus was the Word of God who became flesh and dwelt among men. Jesus was the Word of God and this is the glory He had before the world was. The Word of God is an omnipresent Spirit, it therefore can be in more than one place at once. It was Jesus' desire to be the Word again, that he may be omnipresent once more.
While Jesus was on earth, he was in one body. He was limited to that body and could only do so much in it. However, Jesus was given power over all flesh, and if he became an omnipresent Spirit, he could now be in more than one place at a time. He would not have to be limited to one body but He could be in more than one body at a time. Well Jesus regained His glory when He ascended. He is the Word of God, who is the Holy Ghost. Now the soul of Christ can return to earth, in the form of the Holy Ghost so that we can be saved.
But how will Jesus save us?
We know that Jesus died for our sins however consider this scripture.
Rom 5:10
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Reconciled in this case speaks to the fact that the whole world was given access to God again. Due to this final sacrifice the world could actually approach God in repentance. This is an action that could not happen before His death. Sin was the strength of the devil. The whole world was sold under sin because Adam had sinned and there was none that could pay his debt. However, Jesus the sinless sacrifice, not of the sinful seed of Adam but of the sinless seed of God, died, paying the debt of all sin, even the first sin committed by Adam. By the crucifixion, Satan lost his hold on man. Now it is left to the soul to choose whether they want Christ or not.
Jn 3:13-21
13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Jesus was speaking to Nicodemus here giving an outline of how salvation would come to the world. He first lets us know that no man had received the Holy Ghost (ascended into heaven - see Eph 2:6) as yet only He had the Spirit. As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, Jesus must likewise be lifted up in death SO THAT whosoever believes upon him would not perish but receive the Holy Ghost (have eternal life).
If it was not for the death of Jesus, no one could receive the Holy Spirit, even those that had believed (eg. John the Baptist) if they had died they would still have had to wait in the lower parts of the earth until he died and paid for sin in hell, that they could ascend to heaven after. See (1 Pet 3:19, Eph 4:8-10 & Heb 12:1). His death was important so that the whole world could access God.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned:but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
The condemnation of the world is that light has come - meaning they have been reconciled to God, they have access to God, they can choose to be free from the devil by repentance, but men rather darkness than light. However God foreknew those that would choose light over darkness and to them is no condemnation.
Let us repeat Rom 5:10
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
We have learned how we have been reconciled by His death, however the scripture says that it is by the life of Jesus Christ that we are saved. Therefore in order to be saved we must receive His life.
Once again, how are we saved by the life of Jesus Christ?
First the unsaved man must desire light.
Luk 14:26-27
26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
Above is the criteria for salvation. You must hate the influence of every person that is against God's influence in your life. You must be willing to suffer for Jesus and you must be willing to deny yourself. This basically means that all you must want is God, and nothing else.
When we meet the criteria of Christ, and call upon the name of the Lord and He decides to fill us with the Spirit, the following happens.
Lets begin the operation of salvation
From henceforth will be a slow-mo of the operation of salvation that God does the moment we get saved. From this part to the end of this series will show what happens in the split second we are filled with the Holy Ghost.
