This part of the series is focused specifically on Jesus. It is a necessary sidebar for us to understand the parts that follow. 

Have we ever asked why was Jesus born of a virgin? We know Joseph was a good man, why didn't God allow him to be the father of Jesus, and then simply fill Jesus with the Holy Spirit after. Many of us reading this (and have reached this far in the series) probably have the Holy Spirit. We know therefore we are the children of God. Why then did Jesus, a fellow Son even as we are, have to be born of a virgin?

In answering the questions above, let us apply the principles and facts we have gathered about man thus far.

We learnt that every seed would produce after its own kind. However the seed of Adam was corrupt. Therefore the human seed is doomed. As long as a man comes forth from the human seed, he will be born in sin and shapen in iniquity. We learnt earlier in part 2 however that the female has no seed, she is a house for the development of the seed which is passed to her by the man.

As mentioned earlier, God prophesied to Eve in the garden of Eden during the curse.


Women have no seed. However God was speaking to the fact that the woman, more specifically Mary, would be given a seed from no man but from God.

God was the Father of Jesus Christ. Joseph was born of Adam and therefore the seed of Joseph was corrupt as well, because he was the seed of Adam. If Joseph was the father of Jesus, Jesus would be born in sin. However it was God's plan that Jesus be born of a holy seed. He was born of God Himself.

Many may question and ask, wasn't Mary born of Adam? Wouldn't she therefore be corrupt too?

That is a good question, but let us look at the wisdom of God.

Luk 1:35
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee:therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. 

God overshadowed Mary and sanctified her flesh. It is by the overshadowing of Mary that she was able to be the Mother of the child of God. God had to sanctify her flesh for a season that she not be destroyed by God's presence because of the sin that was in her body. Our God is wise.

Therefore when Jesus was born he was born with human flesh, however His flesh was not sinful like all of Adam's other children. He was born holy. He was the son of man. Mary was the seed of Abraham and of David, therefore Jesus came forth as their seed also. Mary was His connection to man, but he was also the Son of God. He was therefore not born bound to sin, there was no devil in Him, he was born free from sin.

Jesus was different from Adam. Everything that was used to make Adam was taken from the earth (see part 1). However Jesus was born of the Holy Spirit.

The first man is of the earth, earthy:the second man is the Lord from heaven. 

Jesus is the Lord from heaven. We know that Jesus had a human body, because that was what was crucified. However there was no devil in his body, because He was born of God. (see Fig 2.)

The following scripture explicitly outlines the make-up of Jesus Christ.

Jn 17:18-21
18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 
19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. 
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us:that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

Jesus spoke plainly on this matter. He said the Father was in Him and He was in the Father. This simply means that God lived in His body (Father, art in me) and His (Jesus') soul was in the God (and I in thee). Jesus' soul was therefore not in his flesh/body like Adam's was, but his soul was positionally in God, it was God who was in/touching the flesh.

We learnt that when the devil got into the flesh, he produced his law of sin and it brought forth sin in the flesh. It brought evil concupiscence which is an intense craving for sin that cannot be satisfied. However, when God is in the flesh, He produces the law of the Spirit of life, and gives a craving for righteousness (Rom 8:2).

Mat 4:3
And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

The devil knew that Jesus was peculiar. He was the son of God and the only one. All other human beings were his (the devil's) children.

The devil brought his sons into sin, but God brings His sons into righteousness. Jesus was the Emmanuel. He was God among us. God was in him and living through His body. His body was therefore holy unlike the fallen Adam's. God dwelt in His flesh and would never tempt him to sin.

Jam 1:13
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God:for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

It is important to note here, that Jesus had the ability to sin. If he did not, the temptations he faced of the devil during his fasting would have been of no point. Jesus, however, chose every day of His life to honour His Father. If Jesus however desired to sin one day, he could not blame his flesh as the sons of Adam could, because God was in it and God cannot sin and will never tempt the soul that is in Him to sin.

Jam 1:14
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

If Jesus had sinned, it would not have been because of his flesh, like the unsaved man; rather it would have been because he created His own lust and desired sin. We thank God that Jesus kept himself unspotted from the world, for our sakes.
